Junior Class Ring Liturgy Held on All Saints Day

Michelle H. Daino
Members of the Class of 2024 gathered in Immaculate Conception Chapel on Tuesday, November 1, to receive their class rings and have them blessed during a special Liturgy led by Rev. Msgr. William Benwell.

Aayushi Arvikar '24, Junior Class President, lit the class candle. Junior Class Vice-President, Nina Heim '24, read the First Reading, followed by Second Reading from Amelia Benjamin '24, Junior Class Secretary. Before the performance of the Junior Class Song, "Bloom," the Prayers of the Faithful were read by Rachel Castela '24 and Ava DeAngelis '24. The gifts were brought to the altar by Theresa Morrison '24 and Aoife Scott '24.

In her reflection. Directress S. Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., stated, "Wasn't it only yesterday that we applauded you when you walked into the main doors of the Mount Building on your first day of freshman year? Time has flown by just like I told you it would. I can't think of a better day to celebrate Ring Day than on All Saints Day. Your Mount ring represents the Core Values of the Sisters of Mercy, as it represents a school community that professes Gospel values as its foundation. The ring that you will wear stands for respect, justice, integrity, compassion, and service. Throughout the world, Mount graduates wear the ring you will wear, representing 114 years of Mercy education."

She concluded, "I hope when you hold your Mount ring in your hand, you will remember that you came up this mountain, you sat down, you gathered with your friends, and you learned and experienced the power of being a woman of the Beatitudes."

Following the reflection, the class rings were blessed by Msgr. Benwell and distributed by S. Lisa. Juniors received a special gift from the Alumnae Association President, JoAnn Rojek Minnicino '74, as well as Cindy Santangelo Martinangelo ‘79 (Vice President), and Laura Capece ’99 (Venerable-Member at Large).

Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
