Admissions Process

Any student interested in applying to the Mount must complete an Inquiry Form by visiting the "Complete An Inquiry Form" page as their first step. Completing this form allows us to create an initial profile record in our database for your family. We will then email you a username to log into our admissions portal where you will find your personalized Admissions Checklist based upon your daughter’s current grade.

For students interested in applying for the next school year, the online Admissions Checklist will guide you through required admissions steps, provide access to all necessary forms, and will link you to the online application form when we open our formal application period in November.

For students who are looking at high schools for their future attendance, your online Admissions Checklist will notify you about opportunities to visit the Mount, attend specialized programs and much more.

Below is a brief overview of our Admissions process.

Come Visit:

Open House

Open House, an annual event in October, is a great opportunity for prospective families to tour the campus, meet faculty, staff, and students, and gain insights into the Mount's academic and extracurricular programs.

Even if the student has attended Open house in prior years, the event presents an excellent opportunity to obtain information and gain an even better sense of the many components of the Mount experience.

Freshman for a Day

A Freshman for a Day visit is a requirement for all applicants. Prospective students are invited to shadow a current Mount student for the duration of the school day. They will attend classes, meet students and teachers, and dine in our Student Center for lunch.

Eighth graders may schedule Freshman for a Day visits beginning in late October via their Admissions Checklist. For Seventh graders, visitations are scheduled in the spring of seventh grade via their Admissions Checklist.

Entrance Test:

The Mount offers its own entrance exam which is used to determine merit-based scholarships, in addition to helping determine if students satisfy academic criteria. Pre-registration for the test is required. The test typically takes place during early November and registration information is included on your Admissions Checklist.

Formal Application Process:

All candidates for admission must complete a formal online application after taking the entrance exam. At the time the application is completed, a $75 application fee is required to submit the application. When completing the application, students have a choice between two admissions tracks. The top choice track allows students to select the Mount as their first-choice high school. Their applications are due within two weeks of their entrance test session, and their interviews will take place in December. Students who opt for the regular track have an application deadline in December and have interviews the following January. The Admissions Checklist will provide further details about the required forms to be submitted along with the formal application such as recommendations, transcripts, birth certificate, etc.

For transfer students entering grades 10 & 11:

Transfer students who are able are encouraged to attend Open House and all are required to schedule a Student for a Day visit. In some cases, entrance testing is required and can be scheduled on an individual basis through the early spring or until enrollment is closed for their class year.

International Program

Mount Saint Mary Academy has a number of international students from China. These students are enrolled through an independent company, PEDUS. Princeton Educational Services is located at 101 College Road in Princeton. It is a full-service company which recruits the students from their Chinese partner agencies. They secure host families and provide the academic, social and cultural support necessary to assist the girls in their transition to the Mount. All students are proficient in English and have the academic skills that enable them to meet success in our college-prep program. For further information about PEDUS, visit the website: www.PEDUS.ORG.
