Our 47th Annual Athletics Banquet
The Mount community gathered on the evening of May 22nd at The Pines Manor to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, stated, "This event is a testament to the dedication, talent, and unwavering spirit of our athletes and coaches. We gather to acknowledge our athletes...each of you has demonstrated the power of determination, teamwork, and discipline. To all of you, we say thank you. And to our coaches and parents, we thank you for your patience, dedication, and fidelity to sportsmanship and the values that Mount Saint Mary Academy stands for."
"Thank you to our Athletic Director, Denise Materia, who celebrates her 40th year of service to the Mount this year. Her guidance, expertise, and fidelity to the mission has shaped our athletic program through these many years," added Sister Lisa. "And to our athletes, thank you for taking on challenges and for the sportsmanship you demonstrated throughout your seasons. You took on a big commitment pursuing both academics and athletic endeavors...and we know just how much self-discipline and dedication that requires."
During the evening, the Basketball team's Conference Championship was celebrated, as well as several new school records and many personal bests.
Ms. Materia also recognized and welcomed new members to the Mount's athletic community and those who are serving in new roles:
- CeCile Brown: Spring Track & Field Assistant Coach
- Roald Jornick: Varsity Soccer Head Coach
- Katherine Schmidt: Freshman Volleyball Coach
- Jennifer Weber: JV Volleyball & JV Lacrosse Coach
