  • Can my daughter attend Mount Saint Mary Academy if we are not Catholic? What is your religious education program like?

Absolutely! As a sponsored work of the Sisters of Mercy, we are rooted in the Mercy Core Values: Compelled by Mercy, Inspired by Faith, Principled Leadership, Educational Courage, and A Voice for Dignity and Respect. While we are a Catholic institution, Mount Saint Mary Academy welcomes students who practice different faiths, however we require all students take theology classes and be present and respectful at religious services.

Our Theology program helps students develop a living and active faith through an understanding of Catholic teaching. Throughout their four years at the Mount, students explore scriptural roots of Catholicism; learn to express and practice their relationship with God; discover the wisdom and universal questions found in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures; survey the history, beliefs, and practices of major religions of the world; and investigate social justice issues through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching. Please click here to view our current course catalog for more information.

There are two chapels on campus, and class-level retreats are held throughout the year. A special Mount tradition, seniors may attend a Kairos Retreat in the fall or spring, which offers them the opportunity to bond spiritually and foster Mount sisterhood. The Mount community celebrates liturgies and prayer services together, and the sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to students semiannually.
