"Mrs. Curti-Rechkin brings so much enthusiasm and passion to her classroom! We are thrilled to have her join our World Language team!” said Mrs. Albrittain.
Mrs. Curti-Rechkin joins us with a multilingual background, most recently teaching German at the German School of Union County. She has worked extensively in Francophone countries, such as Belgium and Switzerland, bringing a unique and international perspective to our World Language Department. Mrs. Curti-Rechkin earned a degree in Communications from Kaufmännisches Lehrinstitut (Switzerland) and most recently completed her Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies at Western Governors University.
"I’m excited to share the beautiful French language with the students at Mount Saint Mary Academy. I will bring the language to life through real conversations, music, and cultural experiences from many Francophone countries including France, Canada, and parts of the Maghreb region in North Africa," said Mrs. Curti-Rechkin. "Being born and raised in Switzerland and having lived abroad in Belgium will help me guide students on their journey to acquire knowledge of one of the richest languages in the world. As the French proverb says, “Parler une autre langue, c’est posséder une deuxième âme.” - “To speak another language is to possess a second soul.”
She added, “French is a special addition to the World Language curriculum because it connects students to a truly global community – spoken by over 300 million people, not just in France, but across Africa, Canada, Belgium, Switzerland, the Caribbean, and beyond. It is one of the fastest-growing languages in the world, making it one of the most valuable languages to learn. I am committed to incorporating diverse cultures into the curriculum, so our Mount students are able to communicate in an increasingly interconnected world. French rounds out the World Language curriculum in a meaningful way. By engaging with the language and its rich cultures, students develop communication skills and global awareness that will serve them for life – equipped with a language that opens doors academically, professionally, and personally.”
