Meet Our Coaches

Mount Saint Mary Academy endeavors to hire the most competent, professional coaches possible in each sport. In addition to teaching the skills associated with their specific sports, the coaches emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. Since the coaching staff has a significant impact on the student athletes under their direction, it is imperative that they model the values of honesty, integrity, justice, and respect. Athletics at Mount Saint Mary Academy are very competitive. What we ask of our coaching staff is to strive for excellence on and off the field and to always represent our school with pride.

  • TARA JENSEN, FIELD HOCKEY

Coach Jensen brings more than 25 years of field hockey experience and an unmatched passion for the game to the program. She began playing field hockey as a young athlete, succeeded at the high school level, continued her career at the collegiate level, and still competes today in the New Jersey Field Hockey Association (NJFHA) Adult League.

Throughout her playing career, she has primarily played midfield and forward, but developed a deep understanding of all the positions and rules of the game through coaching.

Coach Jensen has spent her entire teaching career in private schools and values the strong sense of community, tradition, and relationships that private school provides. As an educator, she has taught Social Studies, Science, and STREAM; bringing leadership, organization, and enthusiasm into her classroom.

Coaching has been a part of Coach Jensen's life since her summers in high school, and she feels incredibly fortunate to have continued that path to now coach at the Mount. She prioritizes building a strong team culture; developing athletes both on and off the field, and ensuring that players enjoy and appreciate the sport as much as she does.

Beyond the field, Coach Jensen is a proud mother of two and enjoys spending time with her family, including their dog, Finn. When she is not teaching, coaching, or playing field hockey, she enjoys reading and running -- activities that help her recharge and stay balanced.
