The sacred Junior Ring Mass tradition at Mount Saint Mary Academy continued for the Class of 2028 as the students celebrated the theme, "Linked Together," in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception on Monday, November 2.
After they received their class rings during the Mass, which was led by Monsignor William Benwell, the juniors performed their rendition of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell as their class song. Following the Mass, they attended a luncheon at Watchung Valley Golf Club after taking a keepsake photo with their banner on the Chapel steps. The juniors also received a special gift from the Alumnae Association, which was represented by Jessica Porchetta Bodajlo, Esq. '92 (Vice-President) and Susan Di Iorio, Associate Director of Alumnae Relations.
During her remarks, Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, stated, "Your Mount ring represents the Core Values of our school and the circle of Mercy is timeless. It has no beginning and no end. You can't buy this ring on Amazon. You have to earn it. The ring will forever connect you to your classmates and the tradition of Mercy Education. Throughout the world, Mount graduates wear the ring you will wear, representing over 117 years of Mercy Education, here at the Mount. Wear the ring with pride and respect for the woman of Mercy you are becoming in both word and deed. Let it remind you of your strength, your growth, and the promise you have made to yourself and to your Mount sisters."
"Years from now, your school ring may end up at the bottom of your jewelry box, but I know that there will be a time in your life when you will pick it up, dust it off, and reflect upon the memories of these days and the meaning of this school -- our school," said Sister Lisa. "Not many items in life can serve as powerful reminders of your youth. Your ring will, and may it always be anchored in love."
