Isabella Silis Acosta '27 Earns Global Seal of Biliteracy

Madeline Albrittain, World Language Department Chairperson and Spanish Teacher, reported that Isabella Silis Acosta '27 was awarded the Global Seal in Biliteracy for working fluency in English/Spanish.

 

“Receiving the Global Seal of Biliteracy is so meaningful to me because Spanish has always been an important part of my life,” said Isabella. “Speaking both Spanish and English has allowed me to connect with different people, cultures, and experiences in ways I’m very grateful for.”

 

“Earning this distinction feels like a reflection of both my background and the effort I have put into developing my Spanish while growing up in an English-speaking environment. Being bilingual is part of who I am, and I hope to continue using both languages throughout my education and future career,” she said.

 

Mrs. Albrittain said, “Students who earn the Global Seal of Biliteracy have demonstrated superior linguistic skills, as reflected in their SAT/ACT scores and AP Spanish Language and Culture exam score. Isabella has developed such a high level of fluency from her years of dedication to both languages. She should be very proud of her accomplishment, and I am excited to see what future opportunities arise with this valuable skillset.”
