Over the Thanksgiving weekend, the Mid Atlantic Regional Oireachtas for Irish dancing took place in Philadelphia for the first time since the pandemic. Out of 100 girls from all over the region, Hannah Cunniffe '22 placed second overall in the competition. She is now qualified to participate in the World Irish Dancing Championships to be held in Belfast in April 2022.

“Since the pandemic, dance classes have been different with social distancing and there are limited local competitions to prepare,” said Hannah. “In November I was going to class five days a week to make sure I was in shape after a long hiatus from the rigorous competing schedule I am used to. I am very grateful to have placed so high as well as see all my friends who dance at other schools again.”

Meghan Crowley '23 competed in the same age and category.

“We don’t have any classes together and it was nice to catch up with her too,” said Hannah.

Hannah, who is 17 years old, has been dancing since the age of 3. At the Mount, she is a member of the Student Council Executive Board as well as three national honor societies and the Peer Facilitation team. She is the cohost of the "MountPack Podcast" which features interviews with alumnae who share their career advice, accomplishments, and advice for current and future Mount students. She also participates in various clubs. Hannah has always been affiliated with the Marie Moore School of Irish Dance, which her parents own and operate.
