A Cherished Tradition: May Crowning and Grandparent Tea

Michelle H. Daino
Our May Crowning Liturgy was celebrated on the morning of April 29 in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception and led by Monsignor William Benwell. The proud grandparents of sophomores and juniors also attended the Liturgy.

Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, offered a warm welcome to the grandparents before they were blessed by Monsignor.

She said, "The world of your granddaughter is more complicated now than years ago. It is so important that you spend as much time as you can, sharing your life experiences and wisdom, and get them off their phones! You have so much to teach them as they learn to cope with the disappointments of life as well as the joys and pleasures that life has to offer."

Sister Lisa added, "Thank you for coming and celebrating the Eucharist with us and thank you for being a mentor, friend, teacher, caretaker, family historian, and hero!"

Following the crowning ceremony of the Blessed Mother statue, the grandparents went to the Sister Lisa Gambacorto Theater where they enjoyed a lovely tea with their granddaughters and family members.
