Cherished Tradition: May Crowning Liturgy, Grandparent Tea

Michelle H. Daino
A special May Crowning Liturgy was celebrated on the morning of May 2 in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception and led by Monsignor William Benwell. The proud grandparents of sophomores and juniors also attended the Liturgy.

Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, offered a warm welcome to the grandparents before they were blessed by Monsignor.

She said, “In each generation, the role of grandparents is essential, and I believe for this generation, having a relationship with grandparents is more critical than ever before as our girls learn so much from your presence in their lives. You have so much to teach them as they learn to cope with the disappointments of life as well as the joys and pleasures that life has to offer. Thank you for coming and celebrating the Eucharist with us and thank you for being a mentor, friend, teacher, caretaker, and family historian."

Following the crowning ceremony of the Blessed Mother statue, the grandparents went to the Sister Lisa Gambacorto Theater where they enjoyed a lovely tea with their granddaughters and family members.
