The new academic year for the Class of 2027 is off to a running start as our freshmen attended their Orientation on August 31. The theme was "Putting the Pieces Together" and the event was planned by Julia Pierce, Enrollment Management Associate and Student Council Moderator.
After arrival, the freshmen heard speeches from Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S. (Directress), Donna Toryak (Director of Enrollment), and members of the 2023-2024 Student Council Executive Board.
Sister Lisa told the students, "You are part of a school community that cares about you. We care about what you think and how you feel. We are here to help you to succeed and to be happy. The only way we can get to know you is by what you say, what you do, and how you treat others. You are part of a 115-year legacy...a school that believes in tradition and in you. You were selected to be a member of this class because we saw some kind of gift in you that we wanted you to share with our school."
"You have been given a life-changing opportunity," she added, "and I trust you will make the most of it. Get involved and give yourself time to adjust to high school life. I pray for you each day and I ask you to pray for me as I guide our school into the future."
The freshmen took a keepsake photo of the entire class on the steps of Immaculate Conception Chapel. They enjoyed icebreaker activities including Mount Bingo, name pronunciations for myMSMA, Club Fair, and more! A delicious lunch, singing of the alma mater, and closing prayer concluded the day.
