Mount Forensics competed in the New Jersey State Speech and Debate League State Championship on March 20. John Maldonado, English teacher and Mount Forensics advisor, reported the following results.

Akshaya Karanam ’24 made the Finals and took fourth place overall in the Varsity Declamation event, a huge accomplishment as a ninth grader competing against some of the best, most experienced speakers in the state. She also made it to the Semi-Final round of International Extemporaneous Speaking.

The Mount had a pair of Semi-Finalists as well: Victoria Fekete ’24 made it to the Semi-Finals of the International Extemporaneous Speaking event while also competing in Declamation, and Melissa Ramirez ’24 made it to the Semi-Final round of Declamation.

Ankita Mallik ’23 and Taryn Murphy ’23 competed in Public Forum Debate, and Emily Abbott ‘22 competed in Dramatic Interpretation. Congratulations, #mountforensics!
