Mount Saint Mary Academy is proud to announce that Stephen Muratore, Mathematics and Computer Science Department Chairperson, has earned the 2025 Gold Star Teacher Award from W!se (Working In Support of Education), an award-winning national educational non-profit dedicated to improving economic mobility through programs that develop financial literacy and readiness for college and careers.

This distinction recognizes high school teachers who demonstrate exceptional financial literacy instruction, based on their students’ high scores on the W!se Financial Literacy Certification Test. This national award also honors teachers for their dedication to empowering students with essential personal finance skills, often with the goal of achieving a 93 percent or higher pass rate on the certification test.

Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Mount Saint Mary Academy Directress, stated, “Mr. Muratore is not only a Gold Star Teacher, but he is a Gold Star Person. His dedication to the Mount goes way beyond his stellar performance as a Master Teacher. He is truly a role model for our students and teachers.”

"I am deeply honored to receive this accolade from the W!se organization,” said Mr. Muratore. “My 20 years serving as an educator at Mount Saint Mary Academy have been a reward in themselves. The unwavering support from our administration and the inspiring dedication of the students in the classroom make the Mount a truly special place. I look forward to continuing to uphold the mission of the Sisters of Mercy for many years to come."
