Stephen Muratore, Chairperson of the Mathematics and Computer Science Departments, reported on December 3 that Mount Saint Mary Academy attained Platinum Star designation in the Wise NY (Working in Support of Education) Financial Literacy Program. The Mount was recognized during the 2025 MoneyPower Conference at FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) in New York City, which will be attended today by Malgorzata Milej and Caitlyn Angrosina, Mount Mathematics Teachers.

"We are thrilled to announce the outstanding performance of our students in Financial Math and on the W!se Certification assessment,” said Mr. Muratore. “A strong foundation in Personal Finance is an essential skill for lifelong success.”

“Our goal as an institution is to ensure every student is prepared to make informed and smart financial decisions, setting them up for a successful future beyond high school and college,” he added. “We are committed to expanding our Financial Literacy program as an integral part of the Mount curriculum. In fact, additions to our course offerings are already in the works for next year as we continue to explore new and exciting opportunities for our students."

The W!se Financial Literacy Certification Program, now in 49 states, supports personal finance instruction in high schools. Participating schools teach personal finance and administer W!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test. Students passing the test become Certified Financially Literate™ (CFL), a nationally recognized credential. Through the Program, more than one million students have graduated from high school financially literate.

W!se is a leading educational nonprofit based in New York City with a mission to improve the lives of young people and at-risk adults through programs that develop financial literacy and readiness for college and the workforce.
