Women's Empowerment Club Focuses on STEM Careers

Michelle H. Daino
Recently, the Women’s Empowerment Club hosted a panel of ‘Women in STEM careers’ with some of the Mount’s finest!

Students heard from faculty and staff members who, prior to their careers in education, had careers in science, IT, computer science, engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, data analysis and STEM project management.

Moderated by Women’s Empowerment Club members Nicole Parisi ’24, Sophia Vardas ’25, Angelique Lynch ’26 and Gemma LoGrippo ’26, students learned of the educational and career paths of Dr. Dorothy Kominos (Science Department Chair), Cecilia Kwilos (Registrar), Andrea Clarke (Attendance Coordinator), Jennifer Morzano (School Counselor), and Carolynn Parisi (Director of Technology).

Panelists provided advice and encouragement for young women pursuing study and careers in STEM, encouraging them to be courageous, flexible, and to take advantage of learning opportunities and the support of mentors.
