Seniors & Their Families Gathered for Baccalaureate Mass

On the eve of their graduation, members of the senior class and their parents gathered in Immaculate Conception Chapel for a Baccalaureate Mass which was led by Reverend Anthony Sirianni.

During the Mass, a special reflection was offered by Sister Marjorie Tapia '04, RSM, M.S.N., Ph.D., a member of the Mount Saint Mary Academy Board of Trustees. She encouraged the seniors to consider what it means to be compelled by Mercy. She noted that they have experienced sparks of mercy that were cultivated as a class, while learning from their teachers, while competing as athletes, and as they have been encircled by the beautiful Mount community.

S. Marjorie added that mercy moves us "outward and beyond ourselves," and that we must push mercy out into the world as Catherine McAuley envisioned so many years ago.

White roses were presented at the statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph in memory of the deceased members of the community. The seniors sang a song to Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, before the conclusion of the Liturgy. S. Marjorie, Rev. Sirianni, Assistant Directresses Denise Materia and Jacqueline Muratore, and S. Lisa were also presented with special gifts.
