Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung is pleased to announce that Jacqueline Muratore, Assistant Directress for Faculty, Curriculum, and Planning and a 2001 graduate, received a Delbarton Distinguished Educator Award on Wednesday, May 31. The ceremony was held in Delbarton’s Fine Arts Center.

Annually, the Delbarton School selects an area educator who possesses the qualities of professional excellence and has made an impact on the lives of young people. Since 1975, Delbarton has recognized individuals whom they acknowledge as models of ability and devotion in the education of young people.

Mrs. Muratore, who was selected by Dr. David Donovan (Delbarton Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid) and a committee from Delbarton for this distinction based on her “commitment to excellence in education,” was surprised by two of her former students – Caroline Brady ’19 and Bevin Freeman ‘17 – who offered personal and congratulatory remarks during the ceremony. Special remarks were also given by Donna Toryak, Mount Saint Mary Academy Director of Enrollment.

During her acceptance speech, Mrs. Muratore said, “I know what a challenging profession teaching is and how hard teachers work for their students every day. I also appreciate how the education profession has continued to evolve and how adaptable great teachers have become. We are blessed to serve in a profession where we are always learning, where we need to be flexible, and where we embrace the idea that change brings us innovation and new possibilities.”

Thanking Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S. (Directress) and Denise Materia (Assistant Directress) for their guidance and support, Mrs. Muratore added, “We are always moving forward, because ultimately it is all about our students. It is our job to guide their young minds and foster their growth and development. Everything we do is for our students. They deserve the best – the best teachers, the best programs, the best mentors – and I am thrilled to be considered by Delbarton as a distinguished educator.”

Sister Lisa Gambacorto said, “We thank you, Jackie, for representing the Mount so well through your collaborative work with the faculty at Delbarton. They have been impressed with your educational career and strong reputation as an invaluable advocate for high school students.”
