Mount Hosts Junior Forensics Winter Competition
On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 15, Mount Saint Mary Academy hosted over 40 girls in grades 5 - 8, competing in the annual Winter Invitational Junior Forensics Competition.
After being greeted by Meet Director and Italian teacher, Nicole Doria, the girls were led in a prayer service by Akshaya Karanam '24, a member of the Mount's Forensics team. Shortly after, Mount students escorted the participants to their room assignments for two rounds of competition. The middle schoolers performed pieces according to three different categories: DUO/Dramatic Pairs, Declamation, and Oral Interpretation. The winners are:
- Duo/Dramatic Pairs: Olivia Phan and Riya Ramani (1st place - Warren Middle School), Bina Megrish and Lexi Mancino (2nd place - Warren Middle School), and Lily Sosinski and Bridget Stempien (3rd place - Holy Trinity)
- Declamation: Aiden Steinwald (1st place - Holy Trinity), Siya Gokhale (2nd place - Warren Middle School), and Leila Qadri (3rd place - Warren Middle School)
- Oral Interpretation 5/6: Mary McEnroe (1st place - Assumption), Eleanore Lara (2nd place - St. Michael), and Kelsey Wincko (3rd place - Assumption)
- Oral Interpretation 7/8: Olivia Minoia (1st place - Assumption), Haylie Feliciano (2nd place - Warren Middle School), and Laura Mosiello (3rd place - Assumption)
- Promising Competitor: Logan Sodono (7/8 Grade - Assumption) and Lia Tingali (5/6 Grade - St. Michael)
Thank you to all the Mount students and faculty for helping the event be as successful as it was! Student volunteers included: Morgan Donath '25, Zoe Schack '24, Siena Lahr '26, Maria Pasqua '26, Akshaya Karanam '24, Cornelia Rovito '24, Nicole Dahl '25, Mia Mortarulo '24, Ryan Oden '25, Manuela Roncancio-Roldan '25, Grace Glynn '23, Vanessa Kosuda '24, Emma Szabo '24, and Ankita Mallik '23. Mount faculty volunteers included: Ms. Doria, Reina Colon, Cecilia Kwilos, Cecelia Lahiff, Vanessa Emanuele, Elizabeth Roper, and Barbara Cappucci.
