Michelle H. Daino
Did you know that three of our Mounties are currently ranked number 1 in the respective events in track and field? Congratulations to Payton Kochanski '23, Jordyn Collie '23, and Mackenzie Daly '26

Payton is tied for #1 in the High Jump in Somerset County, Non-Public Group  A, and #11 in the entire state of New Jersey. Jordyn is #1 in the 600-meter run in Somerset County, #5 in Non-Public Group A, and #24 in the entire state of New Jersey. Mackenzie Daly is #1 in the Long Jump in Somerset County, #5 in Non-Public A, and #25 in the entire state of New Jersey.

Coach Andre Bridgett shared, "This is pretty impressive for such a small group of young ladies, and I cannot recall when we last had three girls ranked #1 in their respective events."

Jordyn said, "Coach Bridgett has helped me to grow as a competitor but also boosted my overall confidence. I am extremely lucky to have a coach of his caliber by my side. I also want to thank my parents for their hard work, support and dedication these past three years. They collectively have been a great source of support for me from when I started to where I am now, never missing a track meet and consistently motivating me."

"My team bonds over our love of running & competing. Easily the best part of my day is coming to practice and having fun with all of them," she added. "We simply value each other, cheer each other on and push each other to improve. Nothing compares to the feeling of winning a race or a relay with my teammates by my side. I absolutely love all of them! The medals and the trophies are nice but the friendships that I’ve made are the biggest prize of all."

"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in determination," quoted Jordyn.

Payton added, "I never imagined in my high school or athletic career that I would be a high jumper or even ranked first for high jump. My hard work, dedication, and resilience paid off to achieve this. I would not be where I am today without the encouragement and support of my teammates, coaches, and especially my family. Being a member of Mount Saint Mary's Track & Field team has been an honor and it truly feels like a second family to me.”

"Track has been a great experience for me," said Mackenzie. "Coach Bridgett has helped me reach my full potential, and I am so excited for the upcoming seasons. I also love being part of an amazing team that supports me through all of my challenges on and off the track."
