Juniors Engage in Happiness Project

Throughout the first marking period, all juniors participated in four Wellness Seminars that focused on raising awareness about what makes us feel happy, according to Kathleen Ketofsky, Student Assistance Counselor.

"Based on Gretchen Rubin’s 'Happiness Project' and Yale University’s study about aspects of happiness, students engaged in a marking period-long 'Happiness Project' in which they created large posters depicting traits learned through research on what makes us feel happy or happier," she explained.

The students collect pictures and focus on "moments of happiness." They create a bucket list, find inspiring quotes, take a nature walk, and engage in active, non-tech connections with others, for example.

"Students were encouraged to hang their projects up at home, continue to add things that make them feel happy, and use this as a tool to lift themselves when life gets challenging," concluded Ms. Ketofsky.
