Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations

Mount Saint Mary Academy has marked the significance of Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of special projects and activities. Here is a sampling below:

SPANISH 4 HONORS - Completing an art unit by reading Frida Kahlo by Kristy Placido. As one of their assessments, the students presented a famous work of art by Frida Kahlo and the ways in which her personal life influenced her art. Students are now examining urban art and will soon be researching modern Latinx artists.

SPANISH 3 HONORS - Marian Senior’s Spanish III Honors students began their celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month by designing a beautiful and colorful banner filled with famous Hispanic artists, celebrities, dignitaries, and leaders. The project culminated when the students offered special presentations in Spanish about each of the highlighted individuals such as Selena, Frida Kahlo, and Sonia Sotomayor.

SPANISH 2 HONORS - Exploring music and completing a "March Madness"-style bracket with different songs and artists, each from a different country.

SPANISH 1 - Creating mini biographies about famous Hispanic Americans.
