Two Commended Students Named in National Merit Scholarship Program

Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S., Directress, announced today that Charlotte Gray '23 and Giuliana Pelcher '23 have been named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), which conducts the program, will be presented to these scholastically talented seniors.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2023 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Charlotte and Giuliana placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“We are so proud of our two seniors who earned this distinction as Commended Students,” said Jacqueline Muratore, Assistant Directress for Faculty, Curriculum and Planning. “They have demonstrated incredible commitment to their education and remarkable potential for academic success.”

Elizabeth Roper, Director of College Counseling/AP Coordinator, added, “Congratulations to Charlotte and Giuliana for their accomplishment on the PSAT to receive this recognition. Both young women represent Mount Saint Mary Academy as exemplary students as well as being young women of service and leadership in our community.”
