Mounties Qualify for Forensics Speech & Debate State Competition

Michelle H. Daino
The Mount Saint Mary Academy Forensics Speech & Debate Team is heading to Mary Help of Christians Academy this Saturday where they will compete in the Grand Tournament of the Catholic Forensics League. This event will determine who qualifies for the National Competition in Washington D.C. during Memorial Day weekend.

The Mount team has also just qualified for the State Tournament of the New Jersey Speech and Debate League. "States" will be held at Flemington High School in March.  The State Tournament determines who will represent New Jersey at the National Speech & Debate Tournament, coincidentally also being held in Washington D.C. in mid-May.

Co-moderators of the team, John Maldonado and Lana Abbott, are proud to announce that the following Mounties placed in the Top 6 of their category in at least one of the NJ Tournaments this season to qualify for the State Tournament.  We are extremely proud of their public speaking accomplishments this year!
