John Maldonado, English teacher, submitted his essay, "Think upon the wounds his body bears’: Imprints, Gender, and the Hegelian Dialectic in Shakespeare’s Coriolanus” for The Nancy Comley Prize, an award for the best graduate essays in Queens College’s graduate programs in English and was one of two winners, receiving the Honorable Mention prize.

He also made a presentation titled, “Rethinking Reading and Writing: Revising Instruction in the Secondary English Classroom” at the Queens College English Graduate Conference, where he discussed how he has adapted his instructional methods to engage students during online and hybrid learning.

"This award is a huge honor and I’m extremely grateful to be at the Mount, where I’ve been encouraged to both try new things to keep students engaged during hybrid learning and pursue my own academic interests outside of the classroom," said Mr. Maldonado.
