Open House Showcased Our Incredible Mount Spirit

The Mount Saint Mary Academy campus was vibrant and full of energy on Sunday, October 22, as the academic, athletic, extracurricular, and spiritual offerings which make our school extraordinary came to life for prospective students and their families at Open House. Organized by Donna Toryak (Director of Enrollment Management) and Julia Pierce (Enrollment Management Associate), the afternoon event featured informative student-led tours of our beautiful campus, while the Mother Mary Patrick Gymnasium was filled with student, faculty, and staff representatives who offered presentations on our curriculum, sports, and clubs/activities. Our Mercy Guild offered a warm welcome with refreshments in the gym, the Fathers Club directed the flow of traffic, and musical performances impressed guests in the Mount foyer.

During her speech, Sister Lisa D. Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S. (Directress) stated, "Education is not about learning facts. It is about developing an excitement to think and explore. It is a time of discovery -- intellectually, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We want to inspire the development of spiritual and emotional maturity as each student deepens her knowledge of God, herself, and her peers in this beautiful environment."

"We teach to our students' strengths," she continued. "Young women feel more confident about their learning and more comfortable in responding to and initiating classroom leadership. Ultimately, when it is all said and done, we want our students to love coming to school for all of the right reasons - the reasons that will lead them down a path that gives meaning and direction to their academic and spiritual lives."
