Zoe Daly '24 attended the Jack and Jill of America On the Hill Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C. this past weekend. She was one of over 600 high school students from around the country who learned about advocacy and then put that learning into action.

At Capitol Hill, Zoe met with legislative staffers from the offices of New Jersey Congressmen Thomas Kean, Jr., Bob Menendez, and Frank Pallone. She advocated for The Crown Act, Raise the Age (gun control), George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Stigma Free Campaign.

She heard several notable speakers including author Bakari Sellers, attorney Benjamin Crump, and surprise guest Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.

“This was an incredible experience to advocate for things that I care about and learn how to make effective change in our country,” said Zoe. “The impressive speakers were inspiring and offered so much insight. Additionally, the opportunity to have face-to-face conversations in the offices of my representatives empowered me to continue to use my voice and positioned me to be a confident change agent in the future.”
