On April 28, Mount Saint Mary Academy Directress Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S. congratulated Charlotte Gray '23 on being named Valedictorian and Mary Claire Schleck '23 on being designated Salutatorian. The formal announcement was made by Jacqueline Muratore, Assistant Directress for Faculty, Curriculum, and Planning, during a special convocation in Immaculate Conception Chapel.

Charlotte will continue her studies at The University of Notre Dame where she will major in Pre-Health. Claire will attend the United States Military Academy – West Point where plans to major in life science. She hopes to become an Army officer and do scientific research.

Charlotte said, “I am honored to be named the Class of 2023 Valedictorian and am extremely grateful for the guidance and support the Mount community has offered me these past four years.”

She added, “I am proud to stand alongside the Class of 2023. It has been a true privilege to spend these four years learning from the most dedicated, intelligent, kind girls. They have demonstrated exactly what Mount sisterhood should be. I am grateful to my teachers, who have always believed in me and have challenged me to be the best version of myself. Lastly, I would like to thank my friends and family for their continuous support. They have always been there to greet me with a smile and celebrate with me. This accomplishment is just as much theirs as it is mine.”

Claire stated, “I am honored and humbled to be the Class of 2023 Salutatorian. I wish to express my most sincere gratitude to Sister Lisa Gambacorto, RSM, Ed.S. (Directress) and the Administration, who have made my education at the Mount so impactful. I am extremely grateful to my teachers and mentors who have guided me over the past four years. Their unwavering dedication and support have inspired me to become a better version of myself every day.”

“I would not be here without my family, who motivate me to aspire for greatness and believe in myself,” she added. “I will always cherish my time at the Mount—spent learning and growing with my classmates, who have become more like sisters.”

Claire concluded, “Above all, I thank God for the mercy He has shown me, for I am nothing without my faith. I stand on the shoulders of all those who have come before me, and for that I am eternally grateful.”
