American Sign Language Club Shares Update

Michelle H. Daino
Over the course of this school year, the ASL (American Sign Language) Club, started by Nicole Parisi ’24, has learned basic signs and the manual alphabet. Members learned how to sign a variety of children’s books, and recorded themselves reading and signing the books. These videos were sent out to several schools in the area who serve deaf children as a way of engaging in a virtual read-aloud. The ASL Club hopes to do on-site read alouds next school year, and its members will be working toward communicating conversationally in ASL.
