Mount Saint Mary Academy has a full-time Registered Nurse staffing the Health Office during the school day. Mrs. Victor is a New Jersey State Certified School Nurse and is nationally certified in Ambulatory Women’s Health Care. She holds a Master of Education in School Nurse Education from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA. All health forms, medications, special needs, or medical concerns are handled through the Health Office.

During the fall of 2009, the entire faculty and staff received training and two-year American Heart Association Certification in First Aid, Adult and Child CPR, and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.  Each of our buildings is equipped with a defibrillator and Epi-Pen for emergency use.

Erin Boccher is our Certified Athletic Trainer. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. She is certified under the Board of Certification, and licensed under the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners.

Certified athletic trainers are allied health care professionals who specialize in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses.

Choices for Change

SAC CounselorChoices for Change, a private agency, provides a counselor on-site at Mount Saint Mary Academy who offers counseling free of charge to students. Confidentiality is guaranteed.

The Student Assistant Counselor, Heather, Eckhardt, will be at MSMA on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during school hours. Her extension is 4037. Ms. Eckhardt comes to MSM with over 15 years of counseling experience.  She worked in the NJ public schools as a Student Assistance Counselor for over 7 years and has a Master's  degree in Counseling Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. She is a certified NJ Student Assistant Counselor.

Referrals should be submitted through the Office of Student Services or by emailing her counselor directly.

The primary mission of this program is to assess student difficulties and provide short-term, problem focused strategies to help correct the aberrant situation and allow the student to thrive socially, academically and behaviorally at school. Counseling is provided for issues such as adolescent depression, academic underperformance, family conflict, developmental struggles, substance involvement or friendship issues.
