Art History
1 Trimester - 1 Credits - Grade 9
Students will learn about artists and artworks from various periods and cultures throughout history in conjunction with corresponding projects.
Drawing
year - 5 Credits - Grades 9, 10
This course provides an opportunity to pursue varied directions in drawing and design through a variety of media. Two- and three-dimensional activities are included.
Painting and Mixed Media
year - 5 Credits - Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Drawing. This course introduces the techniques of painting in acrylics and watercolor as well as printmaking and sculpture techniques. It provides the opportunity to experiment and to achieve independent expression.
Studio Art I
year - 5 Credits - 11, 12
Prerequisite: Painting and Mixed Media. This course is for highly motivated students interested in the serious study of art. Students will explore more in-depth topics using a variety of media.
Studio Art II
year - 5 Credits - Grade 12
Prerequisite: Studio Art I. This course is for the advanced student who will be working more independently. Choices will be given in choosing topics and media. Portfolio and slide preparations are included.
Design
one trimester - 1 Credits - Grade 11
This course is required of students who have not taken Painting. This course will be a hands-on investigation of design elements through various media. Projects will include both two– and three–dimensional design.
Decorative Arts
one trimester - 1 Credits - Grade 12
The focus of this course is to create functional art and crafts projects. Textile and sewing projects such as fabric memo boards, and tote bag creations are included in this course.
