Two members of the senior class at Mount Saint Mary Academy will attend United States military academies following their June graduation.
Veronica Cunningham plans to major in Astronautical Engineering with a minor in Arabic at the United States Air Force Academy.
Jacqueline McNulla will study Nuclear Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. She is considering a double major in Arabic and hopes to either work on a submarine or become a pilot when she is commissioned.
For both young ladies, the application process to the academies was rigorous but their passion for serving their country was a driving force.
Ms. Sofia Santos, Director of Student Services, said, "Mount Saint Mary Academy is so very proud of both Veronica and Jacqueline not only in their acceptance to the Air Force and Naval Academies but in their desire to serve their country."
"It is truly an honor to be admitted to these most prestigious colleges," she continued. "An acceptance grants both students a full four-year scholarship with a world-class education as well as preparation and training to take on challenging careers as future officers."
"Having two students attend these academies in the same year is unprecedented in the history of Mount Saint Mary Academy. This is a remarkable distinction and recognition not only for our students but our school as well," said Ms. Santos.
