The Advancement Office is responsible
for the school's fund raising program, which encompasses
annual giving, capital campaigns,
major gifts, and planned giving. The Office establishes
policies for the conduct of advancement activities. It
also provides research,
gift giving, accounting, communications, and donor relation
services.
The most important reason for the advancement program is the student. Our young women, the leaders of tomorrow, directly benefit from the work of the Advancement Office. Advancement is vital in providing resources that help the Academy prepare young women for leadership in Mercy tradition: they make a difference and improve quality of life.
Fund raising is necessary because tuition alone does not cover the total cost in educating a Mount student (or students at any private school). The Mount receives no financial subsidies from government sources, the diocese or the congregation. We rely on the generous contributions of our donors to eliminate the gap between tuition and actual costs.
For 100 years, Mount Saint Mary Academy has been blessed to have many faithful parents who have given their time and talent to secure the school for their daughters and for future generations. These parents have played an active role in each transformation that the Mount has gone through. At one point, parents maintained the Mount's grounds. They also formed the Fathers' Club and the Mercy Guild as a means for parents to get involved with their daughters' school. Every step of the way, parents so generously gave of themselves to better the Mount community. We are grateful for their dedication.
Today, parents still play a crucial part in advancing Mount Saint Mary Academy. Whether it is through volunteering their time, making a financial gift to the Mount, or actively participating in Mount organizations like the Advancement Cabinet, the school continues to improve because of people who are dedicated to the Mount. The most recent project is the track and field campaign. Thanks to the generosity of the Mount family – current and past parents, grandparents, students, alumnae, faculty and staff, and friends – 75% of the $5 million goal has been met. There are still many opportunities for parents to get involved.
